"Thank you. I apologize but I did not quite catch your name." Claudia replied softly, she wanted to make sure she had the right person before she just gave away the last item of Danny's that she had besides her photograph of him on the mantle. She sat on the white leather sofa, laying the parchment envelope wax seal side up, the seal had been made in the old style with Sealing wax, a candle and Danny's signet ring. She tucked her tiny feet under her and sighed.
"How I came to forks is a rather interesting story, I hope you do not mind long stories." She said softly, gazing at him. She could not help but feel calmed and safe in his presence. The sunlight shot through the nearby window setting her skin aglow like diamonds. "It begins just over two months ago, For two tears I had been working in New Orleans Louisiana as the head waitress at a Diner on the river called Leo's. The owner and manager of that diner was a man by the name of Daniel Michaels, but he insisted that I call him Danny. Soon after I began working there Danny and I realized that we were meant for each other and we fell in love. He used to lovingly call me the most tempting thing since chocolate."
Claudia wiped away the unbidden tears as she recounted her memories, taking a deep breath. "Two months ago we had a fight, because I wanted our relationship to be more and Danny said he could not do to me what would be required for us to be together." She wrapped her arms around herself, shivering as the memory of that night came flooding back. "I did not know then that Danny, being the last of his coven was under surveillance by the Volturi, nor that they were concerned about his relationship with me. That night, I was so hurt and angry about our argument that I walked out of the Diner, slamming the glass door behind me. I had no clue about the Volturi as I said, so I had no idea that I was in danger." She shook again with the fierceness of the memory.
"I had been in front of the diner sitting by the river for nearly an hour, I did not notice that anything was wrong because I was so wrapped up in my own thoughts and pain. A moment later or an eternity later, I'm not sure which, I felt my hair being lifted by what I thought at the time was a slight breeze, then I felt this incredible burning pain in my neck that spread through my entire body." She absently reached out and felt her neighbor's hand, somehow holding tight to hers, she looked up and saw a look of pain on his face.
She took another breath and continued. "After three days of pain, I awoke in Danny's apartment. He looked stranger than I had ever seen, like he was seeing the future, which was his gift. He told me that should anything happen to him, I was to come to Forks, here to the house he had built. He also said he had written a letter to his closest friend a Dr. Carlisle Cullen, and placed it in my purse. He said when I got to Forks that somehow Carlisle would find me and when he did, to give him the letter. That he would know what to do."
Claudia did not look up, but she did feel her neighbor's hand grow tighter in hers. "Nothing more was said about it until the night The Volturi murdered him." She shook again, her voice straining not to break as she choked out her story. He asked me if I still had the letter, He looked so odd. I asked him what he saw, when suddenly they broke the glass door in and dragged us both out, the guard that was holding me whispered into my ear that I smelled just as good as the night he bit me. I screamed and kicked, I bit at him but I was no match for him, he easily turned me around and made me watch as they ripped Danny up and burned him. Then for some reason the guard let me go, he said he would see me again soon enough." She shuddered.
She got quiet for a moment, all she heard was the sound of her own breathing and a pained emotional almost imperceptible growl from her neighbor. "I ran to my car, seeing that Danny had managed to pack everything up before the Volturi got to us, and I drove straight here. That was a week ago, now I am just waiting for his friend Carlisle so that I can give him this letter." She said softly, turning the letter over in her free hand so that he could see Carlisle's name scrawled on the front in Danny's handwriting.

personality: Carlisle is probably the most compassionate being on the planet. He loves wife above anything and his family follows directly behind. He is of even temper and he has a laid back sense of humor. He has been patient enough to raise teenagers for centuries and he would continue to do so as long as able. He is incapable of judging beings, but he does not understand the need of some vampires to drink human blood. He would give everything he had to help people.
Carlisle is the most religious in the family. Specifically, he believes that vampires haven't lost their souls and that if they try to live good moral lives they may not be damned for all eternity. His loneliness in the years before he changed Edward and his love for his "children" also indicate that, like Esme, he is very family motivated.
Carlisle is a quiet person with a certain predilection for helping people in need, probably justified by his strong compassion trait. He has a strong faith on both humans than vampires, because he believes they can coexist, despite their different nature. This belief is also characterized by his will to not hurt humans, making animals his source of food, or his will to heal and help them as he works as a doctor in the local hospital of Forks. Despite being so "young" he really loves his children and his family, making Esme the center of his universe, the one who can really fill his existence. Carlisle has also a strong will because he can easily suppress his temptation to drink blood, despite its scent which is really attractive for vampires like him.
As a result of Carlisle being a vampire, he has many enhanced abilities such as running at high speeds, incredible strength, and incredible compassion. Carlisle came up with his own theory as to why certain vampires such as Edward, Alice, and Jasper have enhanced abilities. He believes that all people who become vampires bring something from their previous, human life into their new, vampire existence. Carlisle is also immortal, and has had centuries to perfect his medicinal talents, therefore making him an excellent doctor. Unlike most vampires, he is not at all tempted by the scent of human blood due to the over 300 years he’s spent holding back his temptations. He also uses the scent of blood to help him in the workplace, often using his “curse” to his advantage. He also believes that every vampire that is created, in their old life, their strongest ability is enhanced. What he brought into his next life was his compassion.

You're gonna die to try what can't be done
(the history)
mother: Heather Marie Windsor Cullen (Deceased)
father: Reverend Stephen Michael Cullen
siblings: None
other family: Wife: Esme Children: Edward, Rosealie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper
the history: The son of an Anglican pastor, Carlisle was raised during a time of religious persecution. His father led hunts for witches, werewolves, and vampires all in the name of ridding the world of evil. As his father grew older, Carlisle was placed in charge of the raids. Carlisle wasn’t as enthusiastic about killing as his father was, but he was clever enough to discover a coven of true vampires living in the sewers of the city. He set a trap for the vampires and chased one down. Carlisle believes that the vampire was actually too hungry to run and consciously decided to attack. The vampire fell on Carlisle and left him bleeding in the streets after killing two other men and taking off with a third.
Knowing how his father would react, Carlisle crawled into a cellar and buried himself in rotting potatoes for the three days of the change. When he emerged, he was a vampire. At first he tried to destroy himself by jumping from great heights or drowning in the ocean. Somehow, he was so repelled by what he was that he resisted feeding off of humans. He even tried to kill himself with starvation.
Eventually the thirst was too powerful and he attacked a herd of passing deer. He found that living off of the blood of animals could sustain his life and was infinitely more humane than taking the life of a human. Over the course of two centuries, he developed a sort of immunity to the scent of human blood and was able to become a medical doctor.
Carlisle was studying in Italy when he met a coven of vampires called the Volturi that seemed more civilized and educated than those he was familiar with in England. Aro, Marcus, and Caius were the three vampires that inspired some of the works of Solimena. Even though they were refined, they persisted in trying to persuade Carlisle to drink from humans. Naturally, he refused.
In 1911 he was working in Columbus, Ohio, where he treated a happy and beautiful young girl by the name of Esme Platt for a broken leg. Shortly thereafter, he moved on to Chicago.
He spent several years in Chicago and was nearing the end of his allotted time. (Looking the way he does, he can generally stay in one area until the people believe him to be around the age of 35, and then he has to leave.) The influenza epidemic broke out in the city and Carlisle found himself treating Edward, who had just lost both of his parents and was on the verge of death himself. It was Edward’s mother who requested Dr. Cullen save Edward. She seemed to “know” that Carlisle could save him in a special way and begged him to do it. Carlisle acted out of loneliness and changed Edward.
The pair moved to northern Wisconsin where, in 1921, Carlisle again tended to Esme. This time her injuries were from a failed suicide attempt. Remembering her from before, and feeling saddened by the turn her life had taken, Carlisle changed Esme to save her. The two fell in love and were legally married.
Carlisle then found and changed Rosalie with the intention for her to be a companion to Edward, but it wasn’t to be. Carlisle then changed Emmett after Rosalie found him being mauled by a bear. Although he didn’t change Alice and Jasper, he accepted them as part of his family when they came to him.
Around 1936, Carlisle moved his family to Forks where they encountered the Quileute Indians who have the ability to transform into werewolves. A treaty was arranged stating that the wolves would leave the Cullens alone so long as they didn’t bite any humans and stay off of the Quileute land. The Cullens lived in Forks for a few years before moving on to other places.
The family returned to Forks, Washington after a stay in Alaska. At the start of Twilight, they have lived there for two years.
